Many to One

To pick and choose where you want to consolidate should come from the end users perspective. In particular what degree of frustration can the user tolerate. The answer is simply zero. No frustration, no headaches. That is easy enough, but what about the administrator who has to maintain a frictionless environment. Some consideration should be given there as well.

A good example is from where do you want to present the catalog views. Do you want to litter the screen on a SAP SRM system with countless links to a Rinktee catalog? Or one nice link from SAP to Rinktee which then displays categories and lists in an orderly structured manner. I think the Admin would appreciate the task of not having to juggle multiple setups and just focus on the presentation layout. The end user would be just as happy too.

I hope this helps.

There have been a few questions as to why one should not update a live catalog directly, as written on the Rinktee support catalog maintenance page. Nothing is preventing the admin from doing so, and the catalog system is designed to do on the fly updates.

But like it or not, occasionally even the experienced administrator can make the occasional mistake. That is why we recommend to make a copy of the current live catalog, make the change, maybe experiment with this and that, to understand and ensure that the listed items are accurate. If by chance a change did turn out in error, the admin can roll back the catalog to the previous instance to make the correction all without severely impacting the users shopping experience.

I hope this helps.

Slice & Dice Items

Posted on Dec 19, 2018 by Simon
Sometimes a need arises where you want a user to see only a certain set of categories and not some others.

This can easily be done in Views where you declare which categories to include and which to exclude. Additional setup details can be found on our support site.

Advantages in being able to use filters is that one complete catalog can be uploaded and then sliced & diced in Views without having to manage individual catalogs for each specific category. Very helpful in minimizing the time spent administering the catalog.

I hope this helps.
