There have been a few questions as to why one should not update a live catalog directly, as written on the Rinktee support catalog maintenance page. Nothing is preventing the admin from doing so, and the catalog system is designed to do on the fly updates.

But like it or not, occasionally even the experienced administrator can make the occasional mistake. That is why we recommend to make a copy of the current live catalog, make the change, maybe experiment with this and that, to understand and ensure that the listed items are accurate. If by chance a change did turn out in error, the admin can roll back the catalog to the previous instance to make the correction all without severely impacting the users shopping experience.
